I formatted the mp4 with windows but as ive read, it could still show the wrong memory capacity....what else can i do?

Disktools works in neither FAT nor in FAT32. The windows explorer FORMAT program you do after the low level, will format it to FAT/FAT32. I have a true 4GB (thus needed Fat32), and was able to hack check just fine, using the hack-check document.
NOTE it is step 4 where you use the explorer format command to get FAT32 format.
