Open Disk Error......
I just bought a new 4Gig "mp4"
I was happy considering i only got it for 35 bucks but the thing is that everytime i converted a video and put it on my mp4 it plays anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes before giving me a "open disk error" message and my mp4 player automatically shuts down. ive also tried to look for more info on my player but had no luck...all the sites i found were in chinese. i was wonderin if anyone on this site can help me. The only things i know about the player are: Make: HEDY Model: DM737 Resolution : 280 x 220 the video converter that Im using is called "Freesky Video to AVI" ive tried using both DivX and XviD codecs but i still get the same problem. |
First thing you need to do is format your player to make sure it is in fact a 4gb player. Disk errors are often the result of hacked players. Try following the instructions here:How To-Removing a Memory Hack

i cant use the mp3 player disk tool because that only works for FAT not FAT32...i read Zaidon's post but im kinda reluctant to take my mp4 apart to physically check the memory...ive been known to take things apart and mess them up...lol
I formatted the mp4 with windows but as ive read, it could still show the wrong memory capacity....what else can i do? |
Re: Open Disk Error......
bboyaddicted,
Welcome to the site. Does this error happening when you are listening music or viewing photos on your player? If it does, then it sounds like either a memory hack is the cause of this or you need to run a check disk on your player. Have a look at this KB and follow it and see if that helps: How to: Perform a scan disk and repair bad sectors. Have you tried uploading some sample .avi files which you can download from this site and see if that runs ok without any errors? |

Re: Open Disk Error......
All our downloads are in the [Downloads] area on the left hand side menu bar.
To get to sample videos, go to [Downloads] --> [Samples] --> [Sample Videos]. Hope that helps. |
Re: Open Disk Error......
well ive tried almost everything and i still get the same "Open disk error" problem whenever I try playing video, so i just gave up and decided to open up my mp4 to take a look inside. ehh im not the handiest guy and like i said before im known to break the things i touch...well sure enough i broke off 2 small plastic pieces from the outer case... although its not too bad because i can still put it back together and the screws hold it shut anyway, also its not noticable....well anyway i opened it up and this is what I found.....
