Format error trying to play video on Onda VX858LE player
 

I have just purchased an ONDA VX858LE. I have successfully put music into the player and it works perfectly, but when I try to play music video files it says there is a format error. I have used the converter software from the disc that converts all files to avi, which the player is supposed to support. Has anyone had this problem or know what the problem could be.

You really used the converter that comes bundled in the player? I mean, not changing any parameter?...

The thing is that videos have to be with audio MP2 instead of MP3... that's the main problem

I had this problem once.
You must set the converter resolution to match that of your player screen or you will get "format error" for sure.

I don't have this player, so not sure what the resolution is for video in vx858LE, but I think it should be 320x240.. so try setting to 320x240 in the converter.

I just got my onda vx858le and love it. Just found out i can download and play youtube's flv files without converting them to avi or anything. I just download them straight to the player and go. :D

btw, I joust bought a vx858LE (it is on the way, I don´t have it on hands yet)
and couldn´t find the differences between the plain vx858 and vx858LE
anyone?
what about vx878, looks like the only difference is the screen, which is smaller, but why the model number is bigger isn´t a superior model? is that the only difference?

VX858LE stands for Limited Edition... means that this version doesn't have Wolfson WM8750 DAC which is an audio decoder. The rest is identical.

VX878 have a screen of 2.4" instead of 2.8" for VX858.
VX878 have a slot for MicroSD card instead of MIniSD card.
VX878 doesn't have Wolfson DAC either.

so it means worse or the number of manufactured devices is limited?

I wouldn't say worse... less expensive as it doesn't have a costly chip (Wolfson DAC)... this is a rockchip device. This players doesn't have bad sound at all, it's just with the DAC chip (Digital Audio Codec) it sound better.

But in my opinion good sound is a personal feeling.

Smaller screen
Smaller battery
TF card
Cheaper

hi there i'm new in this forum.and asking to whom it may concern..Got an onda vx858le v2...recieved without an installation cd!.at first i 've tried some video converters without result.after searching in this forum i`ve found the right converter (aviconverter 4.0 in english version)
download it and tried to convert in 320x res as it was soppuse to be.but when downloading in mini sd card and tried to play on mp player ..the same old message comes out..format file error! please help me get out of this problem..as i can't find the right way to convert my videos and downloading them on my onda.some one wrote that they must have mp2 audio not mp3.could you guide me pls what shall i do to convert audio to mp2 aswell!? thanks in advance

Have you tried viDrop?

Dear dmaxi,

some rockchip-players need the "Motion Search Precision" set to 0, others need 4 - if you're using viDrop give this values a try. I know some players who plays rotated and fliped videos only - try these options too. rgrds, lca77

gr8t helping hand guys!! thanks knob u roCK!..the vidrop works perfect & now i can convert videos and play them in my onda with no problems...for now;)

sry bother you again guys, but this time it is question about the picture quility of videos or clips i`ve just converted with vidrop and played on my onda(about time!)..not so sharp and comes a little bit blury sometimes, is there a solution or settings that i must set on the vidrop settings/picture screen.
i've just worked with the settings that knob showed in a screen print.
