Best Program to convert to MTV format
 

Got an MP4 watch with a res of 160x128. Got a program with it called MTV Video converter which works pretty well however some videos come out stretched (originally widescreen) others come out squished and theres no options to adjust within the program.

I've tried MP3 Utilities and WinAVI but both of these massively increase the file size, it takes a 11MB file and converts it to a massive 100MB file!! MTV Converter took a 700MB full movie and ended up with 200MB which is more like it.

Does anyone know any other programs that will convert? (I've tried AMV files but the watch doesnt recognise them)

DynaMight , the .MTV format is an old video format with not many tools developed for it.

There are 3 versions of MTV conversion here:

You might need to experiment with the different versions to get the best results.

Hi, i`ve been using mtvvideoconverter on my pc and always the program crashed when it started converting. How did you got it running on your pc?

I did try one version which ofcourse increased the file size, I havent tried any of the others. I'll give them a try.

managergaritos: Try installing a codec pack like k-lite codec pack. Google it and get the standard package.

Use the MTV conversion to 160x120 or 160x128 only when you are converting a full-screen 4-by-3 program. Try 160x96 for wide-screen, and 160x64, to minimize the squishing/stretching problem.

If you don't like the alternate resolutions, an alternative is to convert the file to an aspect ratio of approximately 4-by-3 by cropping (not stretching) prior to the MTV conversion. This can be done with AviSynth or VirtualDub (or both together).
