"File Format" Error, even though its AVI

I got my mp3 player for xmas, after my old one fried.

First I had issues with the AVi Converter ...so i used the one i found on here that someobody wrote.. forgot who, but thanks!

But, its still not accepting.. as soon as I load it on the player, i get File Format Error, even though its AVI. Which it says it accepts.

The test video it came with worked fine but I lost it.. my music works fine, and photos work fine.

Its a Rockchip player, made by Karbon Electronics... 2 gigs.

someone help???

You need to select the screen resolution in the converter to match the player.

Select 220x176 if it's a small 2" player, or 320x240 if it's one of the bigger 2.4" players.

i did, its 160x128, so it says in the manual

160x128dot display with full high speed colour 1.8"tft display screen

support mpeg-4(avi)video format

Somethings not right, 160x128 is not a typical rockchip resolution.
Either the manual is wrong or the player is not a Rockchip.

It's quite common for these players to get shipped with the wrong stuff.
Can you post a link to a photo of the player?

it should be rockchip, it says so when i plug in the USB. I hope the pic is ok, i tried to get the screen to show up.. I don't have the sample vid anymore.. it was some fashion show.. named rockchip 1.8 or something ... I've tried about 10 converters, it says it accepts mpeg-4 coding, xvid, and divx I've tried them all with the resolution it gave me, and nothing.. I do have to hold it sideways to see the video though...

What type of file are you trying to convert? Can you post us the details of it. You can get these by using a freeware program such as MediaInfo.

im trying to convert mpeg to avi.. and when i load it on the player i get the error message... no matter what i use it with...

I found the companys 1-800 #, but are those any good for help?

Can you check the Settings/System/About option and post the firmware version details, we need to be sure it's a Rockchip.

I never come across a Rockchip that looks like the one in the picture above.

sorry it took me a wile... busy with commission work.. I found out the company that made it IS local.. based in a nearby town.. but when i load the usb cord, it does show up as rockchip.. so here's all my player settings

ver: 00.00.0000
date: 2007-08-06
flash mem: 2gb

the player doesnt have anything else.. but there is a model number on the back that might help you:

mp-828

I've tried tons of video converters, with no luck.. most of them left junk on my computer i had to move, some just quit when i opend them.. others had a watermark...

they all play fine wile its on my computer, but when I load it on the player, i get file format error..

it says it accepts divx/xvid, mpeg4

and ive tried all those.. and others..

there is no firmware on there yet, since i got it for xmas, I've been alittle skiddish updating it, because the last player I had that I updated it, the firmware crashed, corrupted my files in the player, and now it wont even turn on.. and this was a gift so i dont want to risk it with this one..
