Default Watchplayer can play .MTV video but when I try, it freezes

So, I got this nice watch-- discovered it can play movies... or so I thought. It had a disk that converts them to an "MTV" format, or whatever... and anytime I go in, it sees it, but when I try to play-- nothing. Its like the thing just... freezes? =/

The brand is "Sonya." Anyone else have issues with it? Anyone else even get one of these? Am I just S.O.L. with it? Dx

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Hi forbiddenkatalyst,

Welcome to the site.

Does your player already have an .MTV sample video in it? If so, does that play properly on your player?

What I've noticed in the past is, even though the CD has the software, it may not necessarily be for your player. I'v found a lot of the manufacturers just bundle a 'generic' CD regardless of what type and chipset your player users. So you may get a CD that has the .MTV convertor but your player doesn't actually support it.

But first thing to try is to see if you can find a SAMPLE VIDEO file within your player and see if that plays ok. It might just be the settings that's preventing it from being played properly.

Sadly, no. None that I can see. Thank you for your help, though. Any suggestions on what to try? (AVI, WMP, etc aren't even found on the player-- when its in the MTV format, the player finds it, but just won't play it.)

forbiddenkatalyst,

Are you sure your player can play .MTV video files though? Generally if you don't see a sample video, then generally your player won't be able to player it.

Have you asked the seller about this as well?

forbiddenkatalyst , check for the firmware version. You can do so buy selecting the System/Settings menu, then selecting Firmware Info/Version. What does it say there?

The .mtv codec are usually used in the older players (generally 1.2" or 1.5" screens). It might be likely your player would be playing the .amv instead.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Default Trying again... Last board is dead

Time is of the essence for me-- I get a 22hr bus ride and it would be nice to have something to watch.

Summary of my dead board: "So, I got this nice watch-- discovered it can play movies... or so I thought. It had a disk that converts them to an "MTV" format, or whatever... and anytime I go in, it sees it, but when I try to play-- nothing. Its like the thing just... freezes? =/

So far, I've been left hanging. I can't ask the seller-- the watch was a gift from my grandmother. The firmware (which is what I was asked about before being dropped like a rock) is "03.10.00" or whatever... if I even did it right, and I think I did.

And. Before this is asked. I tried putting a .AMV on it. It has NO clue what it is. Doesn't see it.
