Having played around with this player for a few days I would say it is a big improvement over the MP4 players I have used so far, it is so easy to copy a DVD and transfer straight over to the player with no worries about skipping and lip sync problems. I have ripped DVDs without even looking at the output resolutions or audio and the file loads straight away.

A copy of shrek plays really well on this player, I would say the animated films are perfect for the machine, other people who have seen and heard the film playing were equally impressed.
The video is pretty close to the 320x240 rockchip AVI players but without any of the issues that come with these players.

Watching Saw4 was a really imersive experience with some pretty jumpy moments and that I should add is from someone that doesnt really jump much when watching a film. The sound quality definately plays its part here.

Having said all that, the player has to go back because I have been sent a used player with a dudd battery that only lasts 1 hour after a 8 hour charge, I should be getting another in a day or 2 so I should see what the players like with a good battery.

Well, my other player arrived today (same model, same vendor) and he has sent me another factory misfit/return. This one has quite clearly been opened, you can see marks around the edges and some deformation of the casing, the innards are loose and rattle about and the screen has scratches on the surface which have been put there deliberatel by the looks of it (they are criss crossed and one diagonal). I think the factory must do this to prevent them being re-sold by employees, thats my theory anyway, I cant see any other explanation.

I will purchase the same model again from a different vendor as I really like this player now, assuming everything was new and fully functional.

Ok, I also had a few more arrive today, they are clones of the Ramos 970, which is a good little player.

These are the exact same barring the Ramos name, they use the same chip, come with the same pre-loaded videos and photos. Even the user manual tells you the firmware is ramos970.

The video is superb, I was blown away with the demo video, it is crystal clear, sharp and smooth. Theres always a but though, the video I have transfered is very dark on this player so Im messing about with different brightness levels at the moment. Also the player doesnt seem to re-size to full screen automatically, although it will play them just as easy as the other model.

Sound is again top notch. So far Ive been impressed considering the bargain basement price.

where are yyou getting these player and is the ramos got screws on the side???

also the clone vx747 player may actually be rockchip as this has been found now and not the same chip as onda players

I am buying the players from different ebayers and also some other places, I am trying to find the most reliable sources at the moment.

You are right, the 747 clone does use the rockchip as does the ramos clone, but then again the ramos uses the rockchip anyway, which isnt a bad thing for either player.

Also, the firmware is slightly different.

I have discovered the ramos clone also uses microsoft fx in the audio, the player Im using has 4 screws around the casing. There will be some differences, the most obvious in the firmware (even though the manual states Ramos970 firmware can be used, I wouldnt like to try it).
The harware looks identical.

yep, the ramos firmware wont work on the ones with screws on, and is it also a 2.8" screen as opposed to 3"

all new rockchips have playFX as standard now and is quite good

also i have a ramos rm970 and i tried to brick it with firmware from one of those players you have and it did not do so, so may be hard to actually load wrong firmware on the new rockchip players

also its possible to extract the firmware from these players by a button combination or addition of a small file

Do you know where the information is for the firmware extraction, always handy to have the information on ready.

Also have you opened one of these players up and if so is it an easy job, meaning it didnt damage the players casing at all.

If the firmware can be extracted, will this mean we could start seeing mods for the players, Im not too clued up about these knd of things.

on the ramos to get at the firmware you #

turn player off
hold down the"M" button
keep holding M button whilst plugging into pc
wait for PC to recognize player (if all is well)

if it worked you will see 2 drives, one is a hidden partitiion in which all the firmware files are stored DO NOT DELETE THEM
there are several folder, one file in resources called BMP0 holds all the images and with the rkuiedit tool we can see and replace them all to ake custom themes

also we have already been modding the ramos and more over on mp4nation.net forums, lots of work done over there, i am maderin1 on that forum should you visit

i have not opened ramos as it has no screews on the case, so its held by internal clips, but your has screws so may be easier, but be carefiul not to pull any cables out

Unfortunately it doesnt work on my "screw in the sides" player.
I took at look at mp4nation regarding the modding but not seen anything about modding my bogus player yet, Ill keep looking and to be honest untill I hear of anyone being suscesfull with my version I would be worried about attempting to change/mod the firmware although Im sure it could be fun.

there is a way to get at the partition, we have a user on mp4nation with a rockchip vx747 and this worked for them, and should work for all new rockchip rk27 series players

download this file first
]rkusb tag and rkui editor files

now in there you will find a file called "rkusb.tag"
copy this to the root of the player
disconnect the player from machine
re connect the player

windows should then find an extra drive on the player, ahave a look in there and you will see several folders like "APPDATA". "RESOURCES" etc

first off, copy them all to make a backup
then look for the file called BMP0.BIN, this is where all the images are stored

now in the download was an editor that allows you to view and replace images in the nBMP0 file, just load up the file and find the images you want to replace, get the size and create 32bit BMP images of the same size and replace

once done repeat the method to access the hidden partition and copy the BMP0.BIN file over the original

Unfortunately this didnt work, I can see the other drive in the player but the PC just tells me to load a disk into. I cant actually open it.

Dont think Im doing anything wrong.

I connected player, double clicked my computer, opened the drive up (it actually shows 2 drives when I connect the player but only 1 can be opened) and dropped the "rkusb.tag" into the drive along with the other programs in there, then followed the rest of instructions.

Ill try again on another player.
