mmm

i think it should work, 2 drives is one internal mem and the other will be the SD card, if no sd card then no access

which player did you try it on

did you do a safe disconnect and r u on XP or vists, XP works not sure about vista

I did the safe disconnect and Im using XP, the player is the 4 screws 3" avi rmvb Ramos lookalike, Rockchip 2706.

Heres exactly what I did -

Connected player, opened "my computer".
Opened "removable disk f"
Now I have all the files that are loaded on the player including videos, songs, photos etc, I then drop "rkusb.tag" into this lot and then do a safe disconnect.
Then re-connect, go to "my computer" and click on "removable disk f" and nothing has changed.

I also try doing all the above but when I open the disk drive F and see the programs, I double click the top file "in chineese", open this file up and see all the pre-loaded videos etc, I drop "rkusb.tag" into here and safe disconnect then re-connect.

When I enter the chineese file, should I then be opening any other file to drop rkusb.tag into?

I notice theres an LRC file?? in here, that needs a program of the web to open it.

On another note, the battery life on these when fully charged is 2 hours 20 minutes when Im watching videos, dont know what it is yet with music.

besides "F" are there any more drives appearing in windows, look for other drives (i am sure you have )

we had a guy on mp4nation with a rockchip vx747 clone and this worked for them, now they are happily modding

battery is low, but par for the course on the types of clone players

lrc file are just text files, open them with note pad, they are lyric files that are linked to an mp3 file, shows song lyrics as it plays

Thanks for your time macd511,

I just tried it on a 747 clone as well and I still get nothing, no extra drives, maybe its just dependant on whos particular firmware is installed. Nice try though.

The button holding while conecting worked, windows recognized another drive but when I tried to open this I got a message saying I couldnt access it so I right clicked and clicked explore and now Im in.

Just backed the drive up and now onto the fun part.

Thank you.

good stuff, well done
i was hoping it would work, now that is several rockchip players this works on, so it should be standard for one method or another

biggest problem with the older rockchips was the fact that unbranded players could not get their firmware off the player, and so people tried firmwares from players that "looked" like theirs and broke them

thanks for persisting with this

Wow, thanks makd511,

Never thought I would be able to do it, I updated 1 of 8 desktop settings with some crappy picture just to see if I could

So now Im working a full Bladerunner theme.

Ill keep you posted, after working on the artwork I will have a go at the more complex stuff (scrolling icons and fonts if its possible).

Its something else to keep me busy.

Cheapest Ive seen is $58 or about £30 for 4GB and $73 or about £38 from Tinydeal.

I didnt buy the 747 clones from there though (wish I had), mine were from ebay seller and looked like factory re-furbs.

As far as I can tell the postage is thrown in with the price.

Im going to buy some from there in a couple of weeks so Ill let you know what there like if you havent already bought one by then.

i have a set of fonts from a re branded rm970 player and have sucesfully transfered them to other rockchip players, they are much nicer
