Im new to this forum. I have a nextar ma852 that converts to AVI format. Not MTV AMV OR SMV. When i copy the files after the using the included conversion software, i get a exclaimation red mark "File Format Error" when i try to play the files. Ive used MPG AVI MP4 Formats on different files then convert them to avi. But doesnt WORK Help

Your player is probably a Rockchip player, it will only play .avi
Use viDrop to convert your videos first, remember to set the resolution in viDrop to match your player.
Probably 320x240.

Hello clt_42,

most rockchip-players needs xvid-encoded Videos. You could find some Converters like AVConverter, AVIConverter, viDrop or BatMan here in the Download-section. I'll prefer viDrop 0.56.1 for beginners or AVConverter v1.77.3, if you're a tough Windowsuser who could unhide the hidden Converter.ini and replace this one by the one for RK2606A-Players.

The right values for your 2" player should be:

Resolution: 224x176 (some player only accept 220x176)
Framerate: 20 (or try other values from the range of 20 until 30, stepping: 1)
Videocodec: xvid
Motion search precision(max B-Frames)=4 (some Players needs the value 0!)
Videobitrate=350 or 800 (350 @ B-frames=4, 800 @ B-Frames=0)
Audiocodec: mp2 (not mp3!)
Frequency=44100
Soundbitrate=112

As an extra Mencoder-Parameter in viDrop i'll prefer:
-vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1

or

-vf-add expand=220:176:-1:-1:1
(only if you're trying the resolution 220:176)

This parameter is important, because any RockChip-Chip of the generation RK26xx plays only one Resolution. If the Videopicture is smaller than the resolution, the expand-parameter adds four borders to the videopicture until the resolution has been reached.

Or some players with B-Frames=0 needed the video to be flipped and rotated:
-vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1,rotate=2,flip

or

-vf-add expand=220:176:-1:-1:1,rotate=2,flip
(only if you're trying the resolution 220:176)

Good luck and
rgrds, lca77

I just picked up the same mp4 today... Nextar MA582-2CT (2gb storage).

trying to use flv2avi to convert my music vids. Did try viDrop but it doesn't like my computer (win98se on a p4 @ 2.6 ghz)... viDrop seems to start but then auto-exits before anything appears on screen (I only know its briefly starting up cause I can see it in my process-viewer thing)

I'll post again with the flv2avi settings if I can get it to work.

Hi rapierdragon,

I would highly recommend you consider upgrading to Windows XP instead as there are a lot of new programs new a days that don't support Windows 98 anymore.

The crazyfrog sample video from the downloads/samples area here will work on the device.

Currently stuck with win98 (on welfare/disability).
