Default Onda VX777 and size of video files

I've got one of these players on order and I'm trying to find out about the size of video files.

For example: if I want to copy a 30 minute .vob file the file size is about 1.2gb. The player memory is 8 gb so I won't be able to get much video on it. I know I can add extra memory and that the player converts any (most?) formats itself. Is there any merit in using a conversion program before copying to reduce the file size?
Or have I got this all wrong?

convert it!!

that file is just too big really, plus although these players say "play anything" the reality is very different, some people are lucky with their files and they play fine some do not

its a case of get the player and see if it works, but that vob is too big anyway, i would convert it using VIDROP on this site to an xvid or something and reduce the file by half if not more
also visit www.mp4nation.net/forums as that site has lots of info and users and themes for this player

cheers

I've installed Vidrop, but I'm now looking for some explanation of how to use it! I'll wander over to mp4nation.
Thanks for the help.
