Good news! :) The seller gave me the sampler video that came with the player (apparently he had formatted it before copying some sample songs to it), and it works!!! :D I will provide the download link, as might be useful to someone:

Now, I just need to determine the resolution on that video so I can convert all my movies to it. (a little help here? ;) )

my player needs a 3gp container, the one that is used by mobile telephones. I was able to conver a complete divx movie, 1.5 hrs to 400Mb 3gp and the reuslt is exellent.
