Videos on a chipod?

Hello everyone, newb here :)

I have recently acquired one of the famous (or infamous) chipods, as you can see on this picture:

http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/1228/chipodyg9.jpg

It has 4 Gb of capacity and seems to be working ok, except for one thing: playing videos.

The manual states it can play *.wmv and *.asf file formats, but the device doesn't even detect such files when I copy them.

I also tried converting the videos to *amv, but the players only displays the ''file format error'' message.

Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I guess I'm probably doing something wrong, because the player seems to be working fine for everything else...
Thanks in advance!

Is there a sample video on your player?
It seems you might have a Rockchip player which plays .AVI videos. However, the videos need to be a specific screen resolution.

So, if you can tell us what screen size your player and also what the properties of the sample video file is, we'll be ble to tell you what the correct specifications are.

Is the menu the same as in the photo?
Can you go into the system settings menu and post the firmware version number please.

Re: Videos on a chipod?

The player did not come with a sample video...and I just tried copying an *.avi file into it, but it doesn't seem to recognize it.

I don't know the screen resolution, but perhaps the measurements may help? It's 3,5 cms (height) x 3 cms (width) approximately.

As for the firmware version, it displays:

MP3 PLAYER
bksd25c12_33
2008-04-21
9.1.52
2005-01-09

Thanks for the help!

Hi moon,

Looking at your firmware version 9.1.52, it tells me its an ACTIONS chipset player, which means it SHOULD play .AMV video files after conversion.

Try downloading some SAMPLE VIDEO files from our site, put them on your player and see if it plays it.

You can download the sample video files from the [Downloads] link on the left hand side menu bar. Then choose "Samples" then "Sample Videos". Try a few different ones and take note of the ones that work and let us know.

Re: Videos on a chipod?

I downloaded the first 3 sample videos from the 1.5'' screen section. None of them work, as the player only displays the ''file format error'' message, even though it detects them. I can't download the other files, because they're not available through Rapidshare anymore.
Is it possible that my mp4 is malfunctioning?

Try this one: http://www.mympxplayer.org/video-fun...-mb-df389.html

Or this one: http://www.mympxplayer.org/video-sta...een-df411.html

Can you tell me which ones are not available? I'll have to get them fixed.

Downloaded them, also not working :( (''format error'')

As for the videos that aren't available through Rapidshare in the 1.5 inch screen section, it's all files older than the Southpark episode.

Is there no solution to my problem, perhaps the player is defective? I would like to know your opinions, so I can try to ask the seller to exchange it for a different model. Thanks!

Hi Moon,

Try this here: Sample Video: MTV format for 1.8" screen player. It's an MTV video file, but thought I would get you to try it just in case your player doesn't actually play .AMV files at all!

Also, try downloading some sample videos for the Rockchip player (choose the "LARGE" section the Sample Videos download area).

Try the others and see what happens. Perhaps we're missing something and your player doesn't actually play AMV video files?
