Help with avi to asf conversion

Sorry - expect this has been asked many times before, but search does not find topic:

I have tried many, many converters for avi to asf, resolution 220 x 176. Appears to work, and I can SEE the file on my player, but it will not play. Please can someone help - I am getting VERY frustrated

Or do I need to update firmware, and if so, how?
TIA
kimig

Re: Pocket Techie MP4 player

Thanks for answering. I don't know what more I can tell you. I've given you the name - it is a Pocket Techie Mp3/4 player. It requires files to be in .asf format, at 220 x 176 resolution, and according to the supplier at Pocket Techie, it won't accept anything else. What else do you need? If you tell me what else you need, and how to find out, I will post details

Did you player come with a SAMPLE VIDEO? If so, can you upload it to the site so we can take a look at it?

Also, do you have a link to your player's website? Perhaps there a conversion tool there?

Some video files need to be converted specifically with a conversion program designed for that player, so I'm thinking this might be the case with your player.

Re: Help with avi to asf conversion

Hello Binh - thanks for coming back to me. I do not know the manufacturer of the player. All I know is that it is a Rockchip. There is a movie file called 007.avi . How do I upload it, please? The guy who sold it to me, at a company called Pocket Techie, has tried very hard to help me, but I cannot only get this sample movie to play. As you see, it seems to be an .avi file, but the company insist that it must be in asf format. And in fact when I just copied another avi onto the player, the screen flipped backwards, and it told me the file was too big.
Sellers web site is http://www.pockettechie.co.uk/acatal...4_Players.html

if it is a rock chip then ASF will not work, it needs to be in AVI(xvid) format, in fact it is a rockchip and your seller knows squat!!

try the following program

http://www.mympxplayer.org/tool-vidr...ter-df821.html

your player needs
AVI (xvid)
220x176
MP2 audio

and if you have any problems with the player then send it back and come here for advice on a better player for less money!!!

Re: Help with avi to asf conversion

Hi agree with makd511.
Rockchip players only play .AVI files and they have to be a SPECIFIC screen resolution as well.

If you can upload the sample video to our site that would be great. We can take a look at the resolution size and also users can use it as a sample. You can upload it by going to the [Downloads] on the left hand side menu bar, then choosing [Uploads by Members] --> here.

Hello Binh - I THINK I uploaded a file called 007.avi. Took a while, too! Please let me know if it arrived successfully!
Cheers

Yes, got it.
Thanks for sharing this.
I checked it out it's in

Have a look at this post here: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players. It's for a open source video converter for the Rockchip players. Give that a go and try using Size: 224 x 176.

Try that and let us know of the result.

Re: Help with avi to asf conversion

I downloaded vidrop 53as advised and followed all your instructions ( both at 224 x 176 and 220 x 176) Still no good, I'm afraid - the player flips the text backwards and says there is a file format error.
