Default Player will not play avi clips

Hi, apologies in advance if this sounds trivial but for me it is MAJOR.

I purchased from China via e-bay a touch screen 16 gb MP5 (actually it turns out to only have 8 GB!!) player. According to its own settings, it is referred to as product RK27SDK. My understanding from browsing this forum is that it contains a rock chip. The player was not supplied with complementary software. It has two nice movie clips pre-installed, one is an avi format. I have copied my own avi clips (well they are avs but I presume this is avi formatI to the player but it does not recognise them. The selling page on e-bay says that the player will play avi files directly but I am not finding this so far. Is there a specfic transfer procedure other than a simple copy that I could employ?

just copy over files is all you do, AVI is a container and within that container will be the actual settings used, these player play AVI files with Xvid or Divx, so head on over and download a little utility called GSPOT and check what you AVI container is actually holding

BTW do n ot believe the hype of never needing to convert video files ... it bull ,, too many ways to make videos and no player in the world can accomadate the millions of scenarios re video

download here
http://gspot.en.softonic.com/

these players are quite versatile so have a look with gspot and see what make up your file

also can we see the playerand you say it is 8 and not 16 ,, have you complained yet

Hi Centame,

Rockchip players require videos to be in a SPECIFIC screen size for them to play.

Have a look at this post here: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players - a lot of members have had success with converting their videos for their Rockchip player using ViDrop.

Also, can you UPLOAD your sample video to this site as well? Would be good to share this and see what your video settings are. You can upload it here --> Uploads by Members.

Try that and let us know.
