Default Hip Street 2GB HS-3007 2GBRD AVI Issues

Hey Everyone,

Very cool site, I stumbled on it through google, and wow... what a knowledge base!

Anyway, I've recently bought a super deal on an MP4 player. The Hip Street 2GB with 2" screen. It looks and feels pretty decent (especially for $30). It plays MP3s beautifully, and text files too, but when it comes to AVI videos, it refuses anything and everything I've created for it. It didnt come with any example files, and the AVIConverter it came with is no help either. I've followed many different instructions on this site for converting AVIs and had no luck. So far, viDrop is my favorite conversion tool and seems to have the best options.

My questions I guess are:

1) Has ANYONE had any luck with this specific player?

2) If someone has an AVI that works on the 2606A Rockchip, could they link me so I can see if its really me, or my system perhaps...

3) Is it possible that the media I'm converting is the problem? I have a bunch of cartoons that I downloaded and wanted to put on the player for my daughter...

4) Could it be my XViD install?

Here's what I've tried:

-I've returned the unit to the store in case it was an issue with the unit, but the new one has the same problem.

-I tried flashing the Firmware of the one I returned with the firmware from the disc it came with, and it messed it up. The "OK" button stopped working on it, so I gathered the firmware wasnt the correct one, and without the ability to get into the settings menu to enable another firmware upgrade, it was impossible to re-flash it.

-I've tried MANY conversions with all kinds of settings...

-The AVI converter it came with seems to flip and rotate the video, so I'm sure that is a needed step, but regardless... it should still play something... no?

I'm close to giving up and returning it for the measly $30...

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks for the quick reply knob...

That file gives me the same error "Warning File format error"...

Do I have to have the videos in a specific location on the player? I've tried the root, a sub folder, a folder inside a sub folder. Is there a name convention I should stick to? I tried the video name as the link above gives... "0a84a0cf48356398adf4e4079c0fc3e6.avi"

No luck...

The video must be the right way round and the right resolution or it will not play at all, here are 50 presets for viDrop:-

your resolution will be 220x176 or 224x176.

Hey again knob,

Thanks again... I've tried all the 224x176 and 220x176 settings on those presets, and nothing. I swear... it seems like its not going to take anything.

Has anyone heard of a "structure" issue where the video has to be in a specifically named folder or sub-folder?

Other than that, I cant think of why this isnt working...
