Default "file error" for .amv

Cut to the chase:
My MP4 (IPOD nano 2)(9.1.53) will not play .amv.
I remeber seeing the video already on the player when
I first got it, but i deleted it.
and now since then, it doesn't play any videos, it says
file error.

I did search the site and i didn't find enough to help me.
My player is not hacked and it plays other music just fine.
and if your wondering, it starts up with a hour glass then some flowers and "welcome" and it ends with "bye-bye"

any help is appreciated

Well, I'm not going to argue the point with you, but I highly recommend you follow the instructions on how to tell if your player has hacked memory. Chances are you loaded the memory capacity with music and there is no room for the videos despite what the memory tells you. Anything over the real memory will be a ghost file that will not play, hence file format errors. I've been there, done that.

Well if you're sure it's not hacked, the only thing I can think of is that you did not select the correct screen size when converting to an AMV file. What size is your screen?

If you plan on watching lots of videos, I recommend downloading VirtualDub found in the Downloads section of this board. There are a variety of settings you can run your video through to improve quality of the picture and sound.

BTW, whatever you do, don't upgrade the firmware. You will most likely brick your player.

its 1.5 i think, its bigger than a real ipod nano screen(gen1&2), around the size of the nano 4.

ive tried 128x96 and 128x128 and neither worked.

if it comes down to it and i cant use my player for video, thats fine, i still have a 1 gig mp3 player that i can use.

Hi aeiouer,

What are you using to convert to .AMV videos?
Also what version?
What settings are you using?

There is also a freeware AMV Converter called "MPX Converter" created by a member on this site. Have a look here: MPxConverter. It can be downloaded from this site under the [Downloads] --> [Tools] section on the left hand side menu bar. Try that and see if that makes a difference.

Can you try some of the SAMPLE VIDEOS from our site here --> Sample Videos.

Download them, copy them to your player and see if they play on your player.

Let us know which one works.

I have a 1.5" screen player but don't use that setting at all.
Try 128 x 96 instead as well and see if that works.
