Hi FractalMyth,
Just open the xp file explorer. Then create a directory named Rizone Backup on your hard drive and copy the folders from the Rizone to the backup drive you created. That way you can replace the folder structure and playlist files the rizone player needs when it starts up. |
Thank you Sharebear!
Gonna test that tutorial. ;) |
Thanks HEAPS, Sharebear!
H2testw has been running for 18 hours now and is not quite finished yet... however it is reporting 3.6 GBytes of data OK - does that mean I can format it as a 4GB drive (when the test finished, of course)... or do I have to use the instructions for 2GB, since less than 4GB is ok, and you don't mention a 3GB drive? (Tip for anyone else running the test on a laptop - plug in the power supply and disable hibernating/automatic shut down before starting, otherwise you will have to start again!!! You were right about the h2testw taking much much longer than the alternative method, but I have two small boys, so the computer has more free time than I do lol) |
I formatted using the exact number of sectors reported by h2testw: 3.6 GByte OK (7715904 sectors)
|
I had slightly different sector numbers... and my player is drive E... so I need to type in:
mkdosfs -v -F 32 -n 3.6GB_DRV E: 7716192 Is that right? |
We've got a big storm coming, so I have to close everything down. I didn't want to stop half way, so I went ahead and tried the above - got the following readout:
Warning: block count mismatch: found 64174080 but assuming 0.Does that all look right? Is the warning anything to worry about? Explorer tells me it now has 3.67GB of free space... am transferring 2.51 GB of data back onto it... fingers crossed!!! |
1 week and no problems. :D

Me too! Very happy :D THANKS

Under a week and it died
I was very happy with the unit. I understood it was something a misrepresentation, but I wanted a cheap way to play classic movies while on hikes or while commuting on a ferry. After under a week of satisfaction it simply died. I can hear a hiss when the power is on, but all other activity abruptly stopped. My computer doesn't seem to recognize and communicate through the USB port. I've seen other Rizone models with a reset button, but I don't find one here. Other than contacting the seller, which I've already started, is there a fix option, perhaps an internal reset button. Any thoughts?

Under a week and it died (cont)
Like everyone else, I didn't get a manual. If there is a button/hold reset option it doesn't seem evident.
All the best, tdar |
