.mtv file rejected on my player - "file version 255 is not supported"
 

I have downloaded from your site MTV converter v1.11.4. His output files are rejected by my Canyon player, because "file version 255 is not supported". Please, what is meant and requested.

Can you send us more information about your player? Where you bought it from, URL link etc please? Are you sure your player plays .MTV videos? This all depends on the chipset used by your player. Also, there is another .MTV format as well used by a different converter which you may want to try.

it has nothing to do with .mtv format, it deals only with other primitive video formats, especially AVI in a very simple manner.
MTV in fact has 2 formats: an old (begins with ALIAVI string) and a new one. Converter from your forum deals with an old one, it does not show "file version" specification, it puts it bluntly as FF in hex (=255 in decimal).

I'm confused because you said your player rejects the MTV formats, so I assumed that you had come to the conclusion that your player is supposed to play .mtv formats (based on product description as well). Now you're saying it has nothing to do with the .mtv format? Canyon-Tech's website URL that you sent says this "Video / Photo formats: MTV / JPG".

There are two different .MTV converters available. One format will play on one type of player (older Actions 3.X chipset players) and the other format will play on another type of player (I'm not entirely sure on the chipset as I don't that player). So to me, they are quite different because they using different chipsets.

Have you tried the MP3 Player Utilities? It has the .MTV converter on there too.

how to be confused, if I wrote before: "Video / Photo formats: MTV", and gave the link of the player with its specifications, and finally it makes no sense to convert to .mtv if it is not supported by the player. I meen it (your proposed software) has nothing to do with .mtv, not my player, and I dont know why to propose it to me then.

Oh, I see what I you mean, my mistake, I sent you the wrong link altogether! It was meant to be for MTV Converter instead but you've tried that already.

Have you tried MTV Convert Tool 3.13 (MP3 Player Utilities 3.13)?
When you install it, you'll see a "MTV Video Convert Tool" program. Try using that and see if that works on your player or not.

Also, you can try: MTV Video Converter 2.9

To find out your player's firmware, go to the 'Setup' menu within your player's main menu then there should be an item called "Firmware Info" or something similar there. If you can post the details from there, that will help.

Thanks for the link, I have downloaded MTV_TOOL_3.13.rar, I will try it later.Yes, there is a Setup menu, but it gives no info about chipset or firmware, and the home site gives no driver.

Just tried your MTV Tool Converter, sorry to say: failed to play its .mtv file: "unknown format", my DX version is 9.About that tool: it plays many video files without problem (not old ALIAVI .mtv), but complains about CODEC and a splitter while converting any video file, even has a crash. While playing video, no interface, you have to wait the end of play.There is "mp3 player update tool", it shows only an error message "device not detected", even if the player is USB connected.
