Default How to download files onto Mp3/4 player? Don't understand different formats

Hi i recently purchased an MP3/4 player on ebay from Japan for my 8 year old son's christmas. There was no installation CD with it.

I have no idea how to download films on to it.
I have tried downloading different free software to allow me to do this, but to no avail. I do not understand all the different formats etc and was wondering if someone out there could help me. I am not very computer literate and my son is giving me a headache!!!PLEASE, PLEASE HELP

Hi smorris,

Can you give us some more information about your player?
  • Where did you buy it from? Is there a website link to the player?
  • Do you have a sample video that came with your player? If so, can you upload it somewhere so we can take a look at the settings of that sample video?
  • In your player's main menu, go to "Setup" and in there, look for something like "Firmware Info" or "About" and post us the firmware information of your player. That will tell us what type of chipset your player has so can help in determining what video format/settings it needs to play properly.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I got the MP4 player on ebay from Japan, unfortunately there is no make on it. There was a sample video on it but it got deleated by accident! I cannot even see an option for Setup, Firmware etc. My options are System settings, when i go into this there is Player Info, set time, language, display, calibrate, pow off time, default setting, upgrade and other settings. When i click on other settings the only option is to formate main disk or card, which i have discovered wipes whatever you have on the player. Sorry i cant give you any specific info. I do recall when there was a demo video on it is was avi. but i have tried to change a video which i already downloaded on my pc to this avi. but to no avail. It says its on the player but when i play it it says incorrect format.

Try downloading this: Sample Rockchip videos with different screen sizes
There are various size .avi files on there. Put them onto your player and note down the one that plays on your player.

Let us know.

Yes, you will have to unzip them all and then copy them all onto your player and see which one will play. Your player won't be able to play the zip file, only the individual .avi fles.

Let us know how you get on.
