Default [solved] Problems with mtv player

Hi Guys

I haven't been into the forum for a while and really need some help. I've just got a 1.8" mp4 player watch from a site called tradestead. I know it plays mtv files as I downloaded the sample from here and it plays fine. I tried converting a small wmv file with the exact same settings used on the sample video but when I try to play it, I just get a picture of 2 little people on the screen with a red square flashing on the picture.

Is there something I am doing wrong, or do I need to do anything to the videos before converting to mtv?

Any help for this noob would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

MTV Converter is pretty old now. Which converter did you use and what version?
Where did you download it from?
Just want to make sure it's not the version that's affecting the output file.

Thanks for the reply. After trying a lot of versions, I stumbled upon v 1.11.4 and it seems to work perfectly. Converts a movie in roughly 30 minutes at pretty good quality so seems the problem is now solved.

It must be a very old model of player I have as it doesn't seem to work with more up to date versions of the converter. Is there any mtv converter out there that will actually convert from mp4 to mtv?

It seems silly to call the units mp4 players when the converters don't even support mp4 input files. What's the fastest converter that will change from mp4 to something the mtv converter will support?

Thanks

Glad it you got it sorted.

From past experience, the only way to convert .MP4 files is to first convert it to .AVI then use the MTV Converter to conver it to .MTV format.

Yes, you're right, it is silly to call it an MP4 player when it doesn't actually play .mp4 files natively and needs conversion as well as the MTV Converter not supporting the file either. Most likely a marketing tool to sell more players by calling it an "MP4 Player".
