Rockchip mp4 player that does not play MP4 files. Can I install "codecs" for it?

I own a Rockchip mp4 player that does not play MP4 files.I was wondering if i can install ''codecs'' into the player to make it able to play and support more file types since its really time consuming just to convert a video file into the supported type that my mp4 player can read.Is there anything that i can do about it?
